Cute Ways to Celebrate Happy Cat Month

September 1, 2020

September is Happy Cat Month! While we think our feline overlords should be kept content and purring all year, this is a great reminder to pay your cute pet some extra attention. Want to score some extra purrs? Read on! In this article, a Fort Myers, FL vet lists some ‘pawesome’ ways to pamper your kitty.

Toys

It’s always cute watching a frisky feline pouncing on a little toy. However, playing isn’t just fun for Fluffy. It’s great for her both physically and mentally. You can offer your pet something classic, like a little ball. Or, try something more modern, like an automated laser pointer.

Treats

Even finicky felines won’t turn their cute little noses up at a delicious snack. Plain, canned tuna or chicken in water is always a good bet. Your furry pal can also enjoy some shredded deli meat, or some boneless meat, fish, or poultry, without the skin or fat.

Furniture

Cats aren’t exactly shy about ‘borrowing’ our things. However, kitties do appreciate and benefit from having some pieces they don’t have to share with their human servants. Get Fluffy a new bed or scratching post. If you want to go all-out, get her a cat tower!

Boxes!

Who says cats have expensive taste? An empty cardboard box is bound to make Fluffy’s day. Your curious little pet may also appreciate an empty paper bag or a newspaper tunnel to explore.

Play Sessions

Toys are great, but Fluffy’s favorite form of entertainment is definitely you. Take a few minutes to play with your kitty every day. This is a great way to get your furry buddy up and moving, and spend some quality time with her.

Catnip

We couldn’t forget to mention Fluffy’s favorite plant! Get your feline friend a new catnip toy. Or, buy her a small pot of organic catnip. (Tip: if your kitty doesn’t like catnip, try giving her honeysuckle instead.)

Cuddles

Cats are very affectionate little pets, and they’re always happiest when they feel loved. Pay lots of attention to your furry friend. Talk to her, pet her, and play with her. There are few things more precious than a kitty’s loving purrs!
